Search emails, write texts, or record thoughts without pressing a key: Google is expanding its AI features. Three new tools will soon allow users to operate Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Keep by voice.
Many people use Gmail daily for travel bookings, appointments, or school information. Currently, finding specific information often requires clicking through numerous messages. Google aims to simplify this process with the new “Gmail Live” feature.

According to the company, the feature searches stored emails via voice command and directly provides an answer to the question asked. This allows users to quickly find out, for example, which gate a flight departs from or what appointments are scheduled in the coming days. The response is compiled from existing messages without needing to open individual emails.
Google Docs writes while you speak
The word processing tool Google Docs is also getting a new voice feature. With “Docs Live,” users can speak their ideas aloud to create a first draft. The function is designed to help structure thoughts and provide phrasing suggestions.

According to Google, the draft is created in a conversational manner. Users who agree can grant the feature access to information from Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Chat. Internet content can also be included, providing the AI with more context to assist in writing texts more effectively.
Google Keep turns ideas into notes
The third innovation is called “Keep Live” and is aimed at Google Keep users. Instead of typing thoughts, users can simply speak them. The function automatically creates structured notes or lists and organizes information clearly.
Initially, the new tools are not available to all users. “Gmail Live” and “Keep Live” are initially reserved for Google AI Plus, Google AI Pro, and Google AI Ultra plans, according to Google. “Docs Live” is currently available only to subscribers of Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra. The rollout began on September 3, 2026, and is being implemented gradually. Business customers of Google Workspace will also receive the new features later.
