WhatsApp comes with a default font, but you can change it to give the messenger a different flair. TECHBOOK reveals how to write messages in typewriter font.
Millions of people around the world use WhatsApp. Every day, they send countless messages to friends and acquaintances using the messaging service, most of them in the regular WhatsApp font. There are three alternatives that most people already know: italic, strikethrough, and bold. But there’s another WhatsApp font: the typewriter font. It resembles the “Courier” font in Microsoft Word and similar programs.
Overview
What the typewriter font looks like
In a trendy retro look, this font appears as if it were typed on a typewriter. It’s a real eye-catcher for all WhatsApp contacts! Admittedly, the difference from the standard WhatsApp font isn’t very large, as the photo shows, but still.

How to write in typewriter font on WhatsApp
Actually, typing in the changed font is quite simple, really. To write in typewriter font on WhatsApp, you only need three French accent graves before and after the desired text area. Once the message is sent, the text appears in retro font.

Finding the accent grave
There’s just one catch: The accent grave is well hidden on our phones and not so easy to find. Be careful! The accent grave must not be confused with the apostrophe.
All iOS users select the second level in typing mode on WhatsApp via the “123” key, go to the apostrophe, and hold it down. The accent grave is on the far left. To make the character sequence easier to use, it’s best to save it in the keyboard settings under text replacement. Choose an unusual shortcut like “ooo” to make the three accent graves appear.

On an Android device, the font works differently. Users also open the special characters via the “123” key, and the accent grave is on the second page.
As mentioned earlier, you can write in WhatsApp not only in typewriter font but also in italic, strikethrough, or bold. Want to learn about these fonts on WhatsApp? Then check out our video:
