Take-Two is taking action against the latest GTA 6 leaks–delving deep into the data of major platforms. Particularly sensitive is a request to Discord: It could also affect users who have nothing to do with the leaked content.
Hunt for “Cyberleek” Intensifies
Since mid-August, an unknown user under the name “Cyberleek” has been releasing videos from an apparently unfinished version of “Grand Theft Auto VI.” Publisher Take-Two Interactive now wants to find out who is behind it. The company has filed so-called DMCA subpoenas against Discord, Microsoft, X, and Google in a U.S. federal court in New York.
The demand to Discord is particularly far-reaching. Take-Two wants information on all accounts active on three specific servers since June 1, 2026. This could theoretically include thousands of users–even those who have nothing to do with the GTA 6 leaks. Two judges have already signed the relevant orders, but the subpoenas have not yet been issued.

Take-Two Demands a Wealth of User Data
Take-Two also aims to secure as many traces as possible from Microsoft, X, and Google. From Microsoft, they are requesting device IDs, IP addresses, phone numbers, and linked Google and Xbox accounts. OneDrive content is also part of the request. At X, it concerns three already suspended accounts, and at Google, a YouTube video and several channels.
The extensive data search has drawn criticism from experts. The legal basis could also affect users who have not distributed any copyrighted content themselves. Whether and when the platforms will actually hand over the requested information to Take-Two remains uncertain.

Leaker Claims: Version is Playable
“Cyberleek” claims to have access to a playable version of GTA 6. The released clips include the main character, Jason. Notably, in one video, he writes the word “LEEK” on a wall with gunfire. Additionally, the leaker is said to have published a manifesto against digital pre-orders and the decline of physical games.
Meanwhile, Rockstar Games is reportedly preparing its own gameplay presentation. “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look” is set to premiere on August 27 on Netflix and subsequently appear on YouTube. Back in 2022, around 90 videos of an early GTA 6 version were leaked online. The current release date for “GTA 6” is November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
