After ten years, “No Man’s Sky” is making its way to another platform. Developer Hello Games has extensively adapted the vast space adventure for iPhone and iPad.
On October 28, 2026, “No Man’s Sky” will be released for iPhone and iPad. It is not intended to be a significantly stripped-down mobile version. Developer Hello Games promises nearly the full game content, including more than 40 major updates added since the original release in 2016.

This includes the newer expansions “Cosmos” and “Voyagers.” Despite the massive content, the installation is expected to take up less than four gigabytes of storage. At launch, “No Man’s Sky” can also be tried for free before unlocking the full version.
Hello Games develops a new touch control
For the transition to smartphones and tablets, Hello Games primarily had to adjust the controls. “No Man’s Sky” combines exploration on foot with vehicles and space flights. According to the studio, the touch control was therefore redeveloped from scratch. Alternatively, the game can be played with a controller.
On the iPad, “No Man’s Sky” additionally supports mouse and keyboard. It can also be streamed to a TV. According to Hello Games, they have also worked on battery life and heat development. The hardware requirements remain relatively low: Devices supported include the iPhone 11 and the third-generation iPad Air.
Players must forgo two features
The mobile version does not fully match the already available versions. The multiplayer mode is missing at launch, so joint journeys through the universe are initially not possible on iPhone and iPad. Also, the planetary settlements have higher hardware requirements and will only be supported from the iPhone 15 Pro onward.
How things proceed afterward also depends on the response to the new version. Hello Games wants to observe how many people play on iPhone and iPad and consider feedback. An iPad version was already announced in 2022. About ten years after the original release of “No Man’s Sky,” the space adventure is now finally coming to Apple’s mobile devices.
