Almost 13 years after “GTA 5,” Rockstar Games has released an extended trailer providing the most detailed look yet at “Grand Theft Auto 6” (GTA 6). The nearly 27-minute special showcases extensive gameplay scenes and reveals numerous new game mechanics.
Vice City Causes a State of Emergency
The expectations for “Grand Theft Auto 6” are enormous, and the new preview makes it clear why. More than 4,700 days after the launch of “GTA 5,” Rockstar Games released a nearly 27-minute special on August 27, 2026, diving deep into the world of the upcoming open-world game. The presentation was initially broadcast on Netflix and attracted millions of fans worldwide.
The interest was apparently so great that it temporarily caused disruptions on Netflix. Twitch also experienced technical issues for a time.

Real Gameplay Insight Instead of Glossy Trailer
Unlike many marketing presentations, Rockstar’s extended trailer does not rely on pre-rendered film scenes. Instead, the special shows real gameplay, providing a realistic impression of graphics, game mechanics, and atmosphere.
The video centers on the two main characters, Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval, who guide players through the new version of Vice City. Right at the beginning, the two find themselves in a dangerous situation during a drug deal, which ends in a shootout with the police. As the trailer progresses, it showcases various aspects of the game: spectacular chases, heists, parties, and leisure activities.
More Interactions, Smarter Police
The special also confirms several features that fans had mainly speculated about due to earlier leaks. For instance, the police will now remember details like clothing, appearance, or getaway vehicles and adjust their pursuit accordingly. This is complemented by an honor system that reacts to player behavior.
Furthermore, Rockstar significantly expands interaction possibilities. Whether it’s sports, diving, paddling, or everyday actions like selecting food from the fridge, many elements of the game world can be actively used. Social networks also play a much larger role in the gameplay than in the predecessor. The high level of detail and the multitude of new systems underscore Rockstar’s ambition to set new standards for open-world games with “GTA 6.”
