Cologne will once again become the center of the gaming world. At Gamescom 2026, numerous new games, exciting demos, and some surprising announcements await visitors.
Major Game Series Make a Comeback
Among the standout titles at the fair is “Rayman Legends Retold.” Ubisoft is bringing back the acclaimed 2013 platformer in a modernized form, offering not only revamped graphics but also additional levels. The well-known co-op mode for up to four players remains intact and is expected to provide plenty of multiplayer fun once again.
Fans of classic role-playing games will also get their money’s worth. After a long hiatus, the “Fable” series returns. At Gamescom, visitors will get their first look at the new fantasy adventure. Although no playable version is available, developer Playground Games is presenting a live demo. “Gears of War: E-Day,” which takes the shooter series back to its origins, is also attracting significant interest. At the Xbox booth, fairgoers can try out early scenes from the campaign.

Nintendo Focuses on Movement, Witcher Fans on New Stories
Nintendo is bringing “Switch Sports Resort,” the successor to its successful motion series, to the new Switch generation. Twelve sports, including tennis, basketball, golf, and bowling, are set to get people moving in front of the TV again. Nintendo places special emphasis on the precise control with the Joy-Cons.
For role-playing fans, there is news from the world of Geralt of Rivia. “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past” will be released in 2027 as a new expansion for the now eleven-year-old main game. The additional chapter is intended to bridge the gap to the announced “Witcher 4” in 2028. Additionally, “The Witcher 3” will receive a free remaster update at the end of September. First gameplay scenes of the expansion were already presented at the opening show “Opening Night Live.”
Surprises Beyond Games and News on GTA 6
This year, an unusual collaboration is also causing a stir. Furniture retailer IKEA is working with Xbox for the first time on a joint product line called YXSTABY. Some teasers have already been released in advance, including a pillow designed like an Xbox controller. The collection includes nine products that combine Scandinavian design with gaming know-how.
Those hoping for new information on “GTA 6” won’t be disappointed either. Although Rockstar’s open-world hit is not directly represented at Gamescom, new video material with previously unreleased gameplay scenes will be released on August 27.
Visitors can attend Gamescom 2026 from August 27 to 30. Day tickets cost 31.50 euros, and evening tickets are available for 10.50 euros. According to the organizers, tickets are still available for all days except Saturday.
