The Trailer Highlights of Gamescom Opening Night Live
Many major development studios bring first trailers and hands-on experiences for upcoming games to Gamescom. To give the audience an overview, the announcements are showcased collectively at Opening Night Live. Here are the highlights:
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7
The new Black Ops was introduced with an intense trailer featuring both story elements and gameplay scenes. Players can expect a dark campaign with geopolitical tensions and new characters operating in the Cold War of the future. A classic “Black Ops” experience with espionage, tactical action, and cinematic presentation.
Resident Evil: Requiem
Capcom showcased the first gameplay trailer for “Resident Evil: Requiem” at Gamescom. The dark atmosphere, new locations, and a mix of survival horror and action recall the strengths of the series.
Black Myth: Zhong Kui
“Black Myth: Zhong Kui” is the sequel to the 2024 hit “Black Myth: Wukong.” The single-player action RPG revolves around the Chinese “ghost catcher” folk hero Zhong Kui. The game is still early in development, will be released for PC and “all major consoles,” and has no release window yet. Host Geoff Keighley also hinted that a DLC for “Black Myth: Wukong” is still in the works.
Ghost of Yōtei
A new samurai action game that serves as a standalone sequel to “Ghost of Tsushima,” but sets its own accents. In a stylized Japan, intrigue, ghostly beings, and honor will play a central role.
Fallout Season 2
Not a game itself, but based on the highly popular “Fallout” series. A new trailer introduced the continuation of the successful Amazon series, which ties into the events of “Fallout: New Vegas.” Cesar’s Legion and the mysterious Dr. House are also included. It premieres in December 2025.
