Vodafone is increasingly focusing on fiber-optic internet and is gradually expanding its offerings. After the provider revamped its plans in fall 2025, making some cheaper, the appropriate hardware is now following. With the Ultra Hub 7 Fiber, Vodafone is introducing its own router for fiber-optic connections for the first time. This complements the company’s portfolio, which has long been primarily geared toward cable internet.

Router Relies on WiFi 7 and High Speed

The new Ultra Hub 7 Fiber was developed by Vodafone itself and supports the modern WiFi-7 standard. According to the provider, data rates of up to 5,760 megabits per second are possible. At the same time, low latencies are expected, which is particularly relevant for gaming and streaming in high resolution.

The device features an integrated modem, eliminating the need for additional hardware to use it in Deutsche Telekom fiber-optic networks. Setup and control are managed via the UltraConnect app on a smartphone. Users can set up various Wi-Fi networks and choose an additional network and a guest network alongside the main network. Usage times can also be set, and individual devices can be excluded from the Wi-Fi.

Vodafone offers the router for both rental and purchase. The monthly rental fee is 4.99 euros. Alternatively, the Ultra Hub 7 Fiber can be purchased for a one-time fee of 129.90 euros. In addition to performance and features, Vodafone also highlights the device’s energy efficiency and environmentally friendly production.

Familiar Design, Adapted Connections

Visually, the new fiber-optic router does not differ from the already available Ultra Hub 7 Cable. However, there are differences in the equipment: The fiber model has a connection for the fiber-optic cable and a 2.5-gigabit LAN/WAN port. Additionally, there are two more LAN ports, each with 1 gigabit, a USB-A port of type 3.1, and two phone connections in FXS and FXS/TAE formats.

However, certain functions are missing. The router does not offer an integrated answering machine or fax function. Features like a network drive or media server are also not available.
