The streaming market is fiercely competitive. Paramount+ recently entered the German market, having already been very successful in the U.S.
The streaming service Paramount+ has been available in its current form since 2021, previously known as “CBS All Access.” Since the rebranding, the provider, which had already been very successful in the U.S., has expanded significantly. Part of the new strategy was to extend the service to Europe. Since December 2022, the high-profile provider has also been available in Germany. But how much does a subscription cost? And what can you stream on Paramount+?
Overview
Launch in Germany in December 2022
Simultaneously with Germany, Paramount+ launched on December 8, 2022, in Austria and Switzerland. Following Disney, another company with its own studio decided not to offer its self-produced content to competitors. Instead, movies, series, and shows will now be available on its own streaming service.
Every month, the provider updates the list of available content, which includes not only series and movies but also shows and documentaries. The catalog also features various original productions and exclusive content.

Cost and Availability of Paramount+
Since June 5, 2025, Paramount+ has offered three subscription models in Germany. New is the Basic Plan with Ads for 5.99 euros per month, which offers Full HD quality but only allows one stream at a time and does not include downloads. The previous Standard Plan has increased in price: It now costs new customers 9.99 euros per month (previously 7.99 euros), while existing customers continue to pay the old price for now. It is ad-free, allows two simultaneous streams, and offers a download function. The Premium Plan for 12.99 euros per month offers 4K resolution, Dolby Vision/HDR10, Dolby Atmos, and up to four simultaneous streams. All subscriptions include a 7-day free trial period.
Paramount+ content can be accessed in Germany in several ways. Users can use the service directly through the official Paramount+ app, which is available for smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, streaming sticks like Fire TV or Apple TV, and gaming consoles.
Additionally, Paramount+ can be booked as an additional channel on Amazon Prime Video. Through this option, Amazon Prime subscribers can use the service directly within their familiar interface.
Another option is through Sky Cinema: Customers who have subscribed to the Sky Cinema package receive access to Paramount+ at no additional cost–either through the Sky Q platform or the Paramount+ app. The service is integrated for free due to the previous cooperation between Paramount and Sky. However, Wow subscribers are excluded.
This makes Paramount+ flexibly accessible on many devices and across multiple platforms, depending on which ecosystem users prefer.
Series and Movies on Paramount+
Paramount+ offers a variety of exclusive content in Germany that is only available on the platform. This includes high-profile series like “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” and “Star Trek: Discovery,” whose new seasons are exclusive to Paramount+. The prequel series “1923” and “1883” to the hit series “Yellowstone” and the mafia series “Tulsa King” with Sylvester Stallone are also among the highlights.
With “Mayor of Kingstown” and “The Offer”–a series about the making of the classic film “The Godfather”–the streaming service offers more high-quality original productions. Science fiction fans will enjoy “Halo,” a series adaptation of the video game series of the same name. “Rabbit Hole” with Kiefer Sutherland and “Knuckles,” a spin-off of the “Sonic the Hedgehog” series, are also exclusive to Paramount+.
In the film sector, blockbusters like “Top Gun: Maverick,” “Scream VI,” and “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” are exclusively available on Paramount+ after their theatrical release. For families, there is a wide range of offerings with formats like “PAW Patrol” (series and movies), “SpongeBob SquarePants,” including spin-offs like “Kamp Koral” and “The Patrick Star Show,” as well as the new version of “Dora.”
Additionally, some German productions are planned specifically for the local market.
