The answer should be a resounding “No.” The market is more saturated and fragmented than ever, frustrating consumers with rising prices and increasing confusion. However, all of this becomes far less relevant when free offers are on the horizon. That’s why the new offering within Google TV Freeplay is likely to be of particular interest.
Google TV Freeplay offers more than 10,000 movies for free
As the company reveals in a new announcement, the Google TV Freeplay offering has been significantly expanded. Essentially, it is a free, built-in portal for live TV on Google’s television devices. But that’s not all: Recently, the company has made more than 10,000 movies and series available for on-demand viewing, thus launching a new streaming platform. Additionally, the selection of live channels has been expanded to more than 300.
The general conditions for Google TV Freeplay remain unchanged for now. The portal remains free, and no extra subscription profile is necessary. Only a Google account is required.
Here’s what you can watch on Google TV Freeplay
Google has brought on board two special partners for the new streaming titles. Many titles from the well-known studios A24 and Lionsgate are now available on Google TV Freeplay.
A24 is arguably the most famous indie studio in the world, with a loyal fan base and many acclaimed works in its portfolio, such as “Lady Bird.” Lionsgate operates on a completely different commercial level, thanks to projects like the “Hunger Games” films, all “John Wick” installments, the “Twilight” saga, and the “Saw” series. New channels include Bloomberg TV+, the Yahoo! Sports Network, and World of Love Island.

Of course, it’s not all without drawbacks, as Google TV Freeplay also shows ads. Furthermore, the new streaming offer is currently only available in the U.S. TECHBOOK has inquired with Google about a potential launch in other countries but has not yet received a response.
