For Amazon Prime Video, the adaptation of the romantic books “The Summer I Turned Pretty” (known as “Der Sommer, als ich schön wurde” in German) has become a real streaming hit. After three seasons, it was supposed to end. But now there’s good news for all fans, as Amazon has confirmed a film as a grand finale.
“The Summer I Turned Pretty” Film to Conclude Series
This is now reported by the U.S. industry magazine “The Hollywood Reporter.” According to them, Amazon Prime Video executives confirmed a standalone “The Summer I Turned Pretty” film just hours after the end of the third season. Content-wise, the “The Summer I Turned Pretty” film is set to bring the series to a definitive close. Fans can expect that unanswered questions will be addressed. Jenny Han, who is already responsible for the series and is the author of the book, will direct. She will also co-write the screenplay with Sarah Kucserka.
What the Film Could Be About
Han stated in a statement that a major milestone remains for the protagonist Belly (Lola Tung), and only a “The Summer I Turned Pretty” film can do it justice. She did not specify what it will be about. However, fans of the books know that the series left out some important events at the end.

The series omitted the epilogue from the original. And Belly’s wedding has not yet been shown, even though she and her great love have finally admitted their feelings for each other. However, in the credits of the final episode, a message from Han is visible, apparently hinting at the return of the characters.
