The long wait for “Stranger Things” Season 5 on Netflix has finally ended. Since November 27, 2025, the first of three parts of the final round has been released on the streaming service. The rush is as expected—so large, in fact, that the platform temporarily buckled under the many visits.
“Stranger Things” Season 5 Brings Netflix to Its Knees
One might think that a platform with hundreds of millions of subscribers who regularly watch movies and series could handle high user traffic. But as the U.S. industry magazine “Variety” now reports, the streaming leader apparently reached its limits.
In the U.S., “Stranger Things” Season 5 already launched on Netflix on November 26. And just at 5 p.m. Pacific Time, the popular streamer crashed—exactly when the new episodes of the series were released. For a total of three minutes, which must have felt like an eternity for fans, Netflix was inaccessible. Instead, they were greeted by an error message.
Repeat Offender “Stranger Things”
The service reportedly resumed functioning within five minutes, as Netflix confirmed according to “Variety.” However, isolated streaming errors may still occur, it is said.

This is not the first time Netflix has experienced technical issues due to immense user traffic. When the last two episodes of “Stranger Things” Season 4 were released, there was also a brief outage. Similarly, during the live stream of the boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, there were difficulties.
It remains exciting to see where “Stranger Things” Season 5 will rank historically on Netflix. The series itself is among the most successful ever, with the fourth season currently still among the three most-watched English-language series seasons in Netflix history. At least in terms of cost, it is likely to be at the forefront, as it could allegedly be the most expensive series season of all time.
