Malibu Beach and a lifeguard team so attractive that even the hot summer sun can’t compete–those are the basic elements of “Baywatch.” The series is a cult classic and is considered the most successful of the ’90s. Now a reboot is planned, with a streaming service already set: In Germany, the new “Baywatch” will appear on Amazon Prime Video.
Prime Video banks on “Baywatch”
This is according to a recently sent press release from the company. The new series is currently being developed in collaboration with Fremantle and Fox Entertainment. The international streaming rights to “Baywatch” have now gone to Prime Video. The title will be available there in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Canada, Turkey, India, Latin America, and the Benelux countries, among others.
In line with the announcement of the exclusive rights to the reboot, Amazon plans to adequately prepare all fans for the new version by releasing the complete original “Baywatch” on Prime Video. This includes the two seasons of “Baywatch Hawaii.” This is set to happen ahead of the new series, although Amazon has not yet communicated a specific date.
There is also no release date for the reboot yet. It is only confirmed that it will be in 2027.
What “Baywatch” is about
There aren’t many plot details available at this time. It will focus on a brand-new team of lifeguards starting their work on the famous beach. In addition to dangerous missions, they will also face personal conflicts and other dramatic challenges.

The reinterpretation is set to include twelve episodes. Stephen Amell will take on the lead role as Hobie Buchannon. Among others, Jessica Belkin, Shay Mitchell, Hassie Harrison, Thaddeus LaGrone, Noah Beck, and Brooks Nader will also appear.
