Every month, Netflix releases numerous new movies and series for streaming. Keeping track of them all isn’t easy, and not everything is worth watching. In the worst case, an average title gets a lot of attention while a true gem flies under the radar. That must not happen to “How to Get to Heaven From Belfast”—the series is simply too good for that.
The Plot of “How to Get to Heaven From Belfast”
But what’s it about? It’s about the three best friends Saoirse (Roisin Gallagher), a chaotic TV writer; Robyn (Sinéad Keenan), a mother of three who is constantly stressed; and Dara (Caoilfhionn Dunne), a perpetually inhibited caregiver.
They’ve all known each other since childhood—and there are actually four of them. But one day, they receive the sad news that their friend Greta has passed away. They set off together for her wake, only to find that the woman in the coffin isn’t Greta. So who is it? And where is Greta? For the three women, a dangerous—and hilariously funny—journey through Ireland begins as they search for answers.

Strong Reviews for “How to Get to Heaven From Belfast”
“How to Get to Heaven From Belfast” has been available on Netflix since February 12. It’s still too early to gauge how well the story will be received. But according to initial international reviews, it shouldn’t fail due to a lack of quality.
On the well-known site Rotten Tomatoes, where reviews of movies and series are compiled, 93 percent of all reviews are currently positive—a strong result. It will be exciting to see how this figure changes over the coming days and weeks. There are also no audience ratings on the platform yet (as of February 13, noon), but that should change by the end of the first weekend.

The new title’s success is also hinted at by the involvement of creator Lisa McGee. Her previous project, “Derry Girls,” is a total hit and is also available on Netflix. According to the results on Rotten Tomatoes, those interested should settle in for a double series marathon.
For “Derry Girls,” an impressive 99 percent of all professional reviews are positive. This is a result that rarely occurs, and one that even the biggest series hits on Netflix don’t achieve. Additionally, 95 percent of fans agree—there’s consensus between the audience and critics here.
