It was only on November 26 that we reported “Stranger Things” had set a new benchmark, even before the final season had started. Already at that time, it was clear that the popular series would reach further milestones. And so it has: “Stranger Things” Season 5 has premiered on Netflix with a new record.
“Stranger Things” Season 5 Sets Record on Netflix
This is now reported by the well-informed U.S. industry magazine “Variety.” According to them, the first episodes of “Stranger Things” Season 5 have set a new premiere record for an English-language series on Netflix.
In the first five days, the first of three parts of the final season was accessed 59.6 million times. This puts “Stranger Things” at the top of English-language series. Overall, it ranks third, behind the second and third seasons of “Squid Game” from South Korea.
Season 4 Overshadowed
It was foreseeable that the start of the grand “Stranger Things” finale would generate massive viewership numbers. After all, the series is one of Netflix’s most well-known original productions, and fans had to wait longer than usual for new episodes. The anticipation was immense. However, the success becomes truly impressive when compared to the fourth season.

The fourth season premiered in 2022 and managed to generate “only” 22 million views in the first few days. This means the increase in views for “Stranger Things” Season 5 is a remarkable 171 percent. However, only three days were counted for Season 4 compared to the current five.
More records are within reach, as Netflix has not yet released the remaining episodes. These will follow in two more parts on December 26 and January 1. When all views are tallied, “Stranger Things” Season 5 could rank high on Netflix’s all-time list. One can only hope that Netflix doesn’t crash again under the onslaught, as it recently did.
