Certain projects generate such a huge buzz in advance that it’s hard to escape. Especially with new video games, series, or movies, initial images and videos regularly spark excitement—and sometimes even set records. Now, the first trailer for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has set a new record.
Massive Numbers for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” Trailer
It’s been almost five years since the last adventure of the web-slinger. Since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting another installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sony has recently released the first trailer for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” to record numbers. The moving images are fueling immense anticipation:
It seems the entire cinema and comic world has been waiting for the new superhero blockbuster. As the U.S. industry magazine “Variety” reports, based on data from WaveMetrix, the preview has garnered one billion views within the first four days of release. This makes it the first film trailer ever to reach this milestone.
“If This Happens, I Won’t Buy GTA 6!”
13-Year-Old Game Could Cause Problems for GTA 6
Spidey Even Beats “GTA 6”
There are no exact details on how these views are distributed across different platforms, but it is assumed that these are cumulative numbers and that more than just YouTube was used as a source.
The speed is remarkable: After just 8 hours, the “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” trailer broke the previous record for a film trailer set by “Deadpool and Wolverine” (365 million views) in 2024, with 373 million views. After 24 hours, the number had grown to 718.6 million.
This makes it the biggest trailer launch ever, whether for a film or a video game. Peter Parker even leaves behind the highly anticipated game hit “GTA 6,” whose trailer at the time “only” gathered 475 million views in the first 24 hours.
New Spider-Man Continues on Record Course?
Will the box office results for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” match the trailer’s record? Every previous solo film with Tom Holland as the title character has grossed more than the last: “Spider-Man: Homecoming” (2017) grossed $881 million, “Spider-Man: Far from Home” (2019) brought in $1.13 billion, and “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (2021) even reached $1.92 billion.
Given the enormous interest in just the first trailer, the chances are good that the fourth film will surpass the others. The German release is set for July 30, 2026.
