“Squid Game” Season 2 to Premiere in 2024
Since Netflix officially announced in January 2022 that there would be a second season of “Squid Game,” speculation about the possible premiere date of the new episodes has been rife. The targeted timeframes have varied significantly. While initial rumors suggested a 2023 release, exactly two years after the first season’s debut, others pushed the release to 2025.

However, as revealed in a letter from Netflix to its shareholders, we can expect new episodes this year–2024. The letter discusses the results of the fourth quarter of 2023 and provides a preview of upcoming projects. It states, among other things: “Despite last year’s strikes, which delayed the launch of some titles, we have a big, bold program planned for 2024. Viewers can choose from successful, returning series like ‘The Diplomat’ S2, ‘Bridgerton’ S3, ‘Squid Game’ S2, and ‘Empress’ S2, as well as brand-new series like ‘3 Body Problem,’ ‘Griselda,’ ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender.'”
While a specific premiere date for “Squid Game” Season 2 is still not set, it is expected that Netflix will aim for an early fall release. This date depends on the streaming giant’s further release schedule. Typically, Netflix likes to spread its highlights throughout the year.

As of now, “Squid Game” has over 2 billion streamed hours (2,205,200,000) and 265,200,000 views on Netflix. This places the series not only at the top of the non-English production category but also in the English series category, where Hwang Dong-hyuk’s drama series surpasses the top contender “Wednesday,” placing it in second overall.

It is almost certain that the notorious games will return. An ominous organization lures people in precarious situations with the promise of a huge cash prize. On an island, they face life-and-death competitions. The winner from Season 1, Gi-hun (Lee Jung-Jae), is expected to play a role in Season 2. Additionally, after the Frontman was unmasked as the missing brother of police officer Jun-ho (Wi Ha-ju), this emotional drama is likely to feature in the sequel. However, we will probably have to wait until the premiere of “Squid Game” Season 2 for the final resolution.
