The fox is known to occasionally steal the goose, while wolves target cattle farms in the U.S. To scare off the latter, new methods are being used–including the Netflix film “Marriage Story.”
This is according to a new report in the “Wall Street Journal.” It states that the U.S. Department of Agriculture is now employing modern yet unusual methods to protect livestock on farms across the country from predators. This involves drones, lights, and speakers, which play a key scene from “Marriage Story,” among other things.

The small remote-controlled aircraft are equipped with thermal cameras to locate wolves at night. A bright floodlight is then directed at the predators while loud noises are played. These include fireworks, gunshots, and arguing people. One recording is from the Netflix film “Marriage Story.”
Specifically, it involves the major argument scene between stars Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver, where they yell at each other and make various accusations. Both play the soon-to-be-divorced couple Charlie and Nicole Barber, who are in the midst of a legal battle.
The 2019 film was nominated for six Oscars, including Driver and Johansson for best lead actors. However, Laura Dern won as best supporting actress for her role as divorce attorney Nora Fanshaw.
“Humans Are Bad”
“Marriage Story” is not the only well-known cultural asset with a deterrent effect on animals. The song “Thunderstruck” by the rock band AC/DC is also used to scare away carnivores. As an employee of the Department of Agriculture explains, wolves must react and “learn that humans are bad.”
The government relies on specially equipped drones because gray wolves were long on the government’s list of endangered species. The effort seems to be paying off: For example, after 11 cows were killed in southern Oregon within 20 days, the loud aircraft were deployed. Subsequently, only two cows were killed in the next 85 days.
