“The Bear” is facing its final farewell. The acclaimed series will conclude after the upcoming fifth season. This marks the end of a chapter that began rather quietly in 2022 but quickly became one of the biggest TV successes in recent years.
At the center is star chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, played by Jeremy Allen White. After his brother’s suicide, he takes over the family restaurant and tries to revamp the struggling business.
The End Is Not Unexpected
The series ending is not entirely unexpected. As reported by the U.S. industry magazine “Deadline,” the conclusion is now officially confirmed, but White had already mentioned in an interview that the original idea was to wrap up the story after the fourth season.
The storyline of the fourth season also prepared fans for this step. In the final episode, Carmy announces that he is leaving the restaurant and selling his shares. This decision turns the future of the business upside down and changes the dynamics within the team. Many fans already saw this moment as a signal that the series was heading toward its finale. Additional hints were provided by Jamie Lee Curtis. The Oscar winner, who plays Carmy’s mother, posted a photo from the set on Instagram and spoke of a strong conclusion to the story.
More Than 60 Awards
The blend of intense character development and restaurant drama impressed critics and audiences alike. Shortly after the first season’s release, the series won a Golden Globe for Best Series. At the Emmys in 2023, the show won Best Comedy Series, and Jeremy Allen White, Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Richard “Richi” Jerimovich), Ayo Edebiri (Sydney “Syd” Adamu), and series creator Christopher Storer received individual awards. In 2024, Liza Colón-Zayas won an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress, and Jamie Lee Curtis was honored as Best Guest Actress.
According to the online magazine “Filmstarts,” filming for the fifth season is already complete. While a specific premiere date is still pending, it is likely that the season will air on Disney+ in 2026.
