Every month, numerous new movies and series debut on streaming services, including Disney+. However, fans already know what to look forward to in 2026. That’s when the famous “The Muppet Show” is set to return.
“The Muppet Show” Special Planned on Disney+ with Sabrina Carpenter
This is now being reported by the U.S. industry magazine “The Hollywood Reporter.” As it stands, a new special of “The Muppet Show” is set to be produced on Disney+. Beloved characters like Kermit, Miss Piggy, and others are expected to return and attempt to stage one of their classic chaotic variety shows. The new “The Muppet Show” won’t be put together solely by the beloved protagonists. They will receive prominent support both in front of and behind the camera from none other than pop megastar Sabrina Carpenter. Carpenter already boasts two Grammy wins and millions of singles and albums sold, filling arenas worldwide. The singer is set to take on the main human role and also serve as an executive producer.

Additionally, Hollywood heavyweights Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg will join the project. Rogen is already an established actor and, together with Goldberg, launched the series “The Studio”–which recently won several Emmys. Both are involved as executive producers alongside others.

The upcoming “The Muppet Show” special on Disney+ is ideally not intended to be a one-time appearance. The special is meant to be a “backdoor pilot,” meaning if it is well-received, it will also serve as the pilot episode for a new series. This will only be determined afterward.
Fans Are Thrilled
There are already numerous voices online expressing excitement about the return of “The Muppet Show.” Sabrina Carpenter’s involvement also sparks enthusiasm, as her artistic persona seems to fit well with the iconic puppets. As one fan writes on Reddit, this pairing would be a “brilliant move” by Disney: “I can’t believe this is happening.” Another hopes for at least 20 episodes over more than two years, and a certain resemblance to Miss Piggy is apparently undeniable:
There is no specific release date yet for “The Muppet Show” special with Sabrina Carpenter. For Kermit and company, it will be their first show since “The Muppets Mayhem” in 2023.
