Despite disappointing box office numbers and much criticism, Amazon is sticking with one of its most controversial documentary projects of recent years. Now, two more parts have been announced.
Some streaming decisions surprise even industry experts. Amazon is apparently continuing the controversial docuseries about the wife of U.S. President Donald Trump, even though the project made headlines after its release mainly due to its enormous cost and the public debate over its existence.
As reported by the “Hollywood Reporter,” director Brett Ratner is already working on two more chapters for Amazon. Ratner had previously spoken of a multi-part documentary series. It now seems certain that the streaming giant is indeed pursuing the original plans. However, there is no release date yet.

A Film Discussed Mainly for Its Costs
The continuation is particularly noteworthy due to the scale of the project. According to media reports, Amazon paid around 40 million U.S. dollars just for the rights to the first documentary. This was in addition to extensive marketing expenses. Few other documentaries have recently sparked such an intense discussion about costs, benefits, and political impact.
At the box office, however, the production fell short of expectations. Reports indicate that the film grossed only about 16 million dollars worldwide. Critics were therefore quick to question whether the investment was worthwhile for Amazon. The company, on the other hand, pointed to the viewership numbers on Prime Video and additional subscriptions that the title is said to have generated.
The New Episodes Are Expected to Be Much More Personal
So far, little is known about the upcoming episodes. However, from the initial planning, a much more personal approach was mentioned. Topics such as family life, the marriage to Donald Trump, the professional career, and charitable activities are expected to be more prominently featured than before.
What is already certain is that Amazon remains committed to a project remembered less for its content and more for its enormous budget and the controversial debate surrounding its creation. Accordingly, the attention is likely to be significant when the next chapters appear on Prime Video.
