Apple has apparently accidentally revealed the next generation of its Apple TV remote. A discovery in the beta code suggests that the new Siri Remote is already fully developed and just waiting for its market launch.
Apple has once again stumbled over its own software code. In a recent beta version, developers from “MacRumors” discovered the designation “ATVRemote1,5.” This is believed to be a yet-to-be-released remote for the upcoming Apple TV.
The discovery is considered an unusually concrete indication of new hardware. Although rumors about a revamped Siri Remote have been circulating for months, there has been a lack of solid evidence. The fact that the new model designation appears directly in Apple’s software leaves little doubt that a new remote is indeed in the works. However, what innovations it will bring remains unclear. The code name does not reveal any design changes or additional buttons or functions.

The Hardware Is Supposedly Already Finished
The timing of the leak is particularly intriguing. Reports suggest that the new Siri Remote is already fully developed. However, the market launch may have been delayed due to the associated software. The remote is said to work closely with the next generation of Siri and its new AI features.
Apple apparently aims to launch hardware and software together. As long as the revamped Siri is not ready, the devices optimized for it are also being held back. This would explain why the remote, despite its advanced development, has not yet been unveiled. Apple has not yet disclosed what role artificial intelligence will play in operating the Apple TV in the future.
New Apple TV Could Appear Soon
The leak aligns with reports that Apple plans to introduce a new Apple TV this fall. Whether the streaming box will be presented alongside the new iPhones in September or at a later event in October or November is currently unclear.
In addition to the Apple TV, several other devices for the connected home are reportedly in the works. These include a new HomePod mini and a speaker with an integrated display. The upcoming Apple TV is also expected to feature a more powerful processor to locally execute Siri’s new AI functions. For Apple, this is apparently part of a larger strategy to more deeply integrate the living room into its AI ecosystem. The current code discovery provides the clearest indication yet that the next generation of devices is on the verge of being unveiled.
