More than three decades after its theatrical release, the comedy “Der bewegte Mann” is getting a sequel. For many fans of the 1990s film, this might come as a surprising announcement. Til Schweiger is set to reprise his role as Axel and will appear in “Der bewegte Mann – Reloaded.”

The story centers on Axel. After his girlfriend Doro kicks him out due to an affair, he looks for a new place to stay. He ends up in a shared apartment with Norbert, played by Joachim Król. Now the story continues. According to the industry magazine “The Spot,” Hermine Huntgeburth is set to direct. She follows Sönke Wortmann, who directed the first film. Several well-known actors have also been announced for the sequel.
Axel Causes Chaos Again
In addition to Til Schweiger, Jan Josef Liefers, Marie Bäumer, and Rufus Beck are expected to be part of the cast. The screenplay is by Judy Horney and Martin Gypkens. The plot picks up about 30 years after the events of the first film. Axel unexpectedly appears at his gay son’s wedding after a long absence.
His appearance disrupts the lives of Doro and Norbert. The story explores themes such as midlife crises, the desire for children, and the meaning of family. Like the first film, the sequel aims to blend humor with emotional moments.
