A New Case

The doorbell rings? “The Three Investigators” now answer with Ring.

Three people stand side by side on a rooftop overlooking a cityscape. All are dressed in dark clothing, with the person on the right also wearing glasses. In the background, several buildings, a high-rise, and a construction crane are visible under a cloudy sky.

A new case for Justus, Peter, and Bob, but not in Rocky Beach—right at your doorstep. Since October 1, 2026, “The Three Investigators” have been greeting visitors at Ring video doorbells in Germany with automatic responses. The original voices of the three detectives can be heard.

“The Three Investigators” Take Over the Doorbell

Behind the innovation is the Quick Replies feature from Ring. With it, compatible video doorbells and intercom devices can play a pre-set message when someone rings. Visitors can then leave their own message if this option is enabled. Ring itself compares the principle to an answering machine for the front door.

With the new collaboration, these automatic responses get a special touch. Instead of a regular announcement, users can select messages inspired by the world of the three detectives from Rocky Beach. The recordings cover different scenarios: sometimes the boys are busy with a case, sometimes their headquarters is unoccupied, and in other versions, it’s about a package delivery. Fans can rejoice: Justus, Peter, and Bob are also voiced for Ring by Oliver Rohrbeck, Jens Wawrczeck, and Andreas Fröhlich.

The Detectives Speak for You

In total, there are ten Quick Replies to choose from, including:

  • “We’re currently investigating in Rocky Beach but will be back soon. Just leave us a message.”
  • “Hey! This is Justus Jonas, Peter Shaw, and Bob Andrews. We’re in the middle of a top-secret case. Just leave us a message—or maybe a clue. We’ll get back to you as soon as we’re back.”
  • Justus: “The doorbell rang!” Peter: “Must be a new case!” Bob: “Hold on, we’ll be right at the door!”

Fitting for the season, there are also special Halloween responses, including:

  • Peter: “Just, did you hear that? What was that?” Bob: “This is getting too spooky for me.” Justus: “Oh Peter, Bob, it’s just someone haunting our door. Or? Hello? Who’s there?”
  • “The headquarters is currently unoccupied. We’re out getting Halloween costumes. Of course, Justus forgot.”

There Are Also Responses for Delivery Drivers

The new announcements are not only meant to entertain at the door but can also serve a practical purpose. In one of the responses for deliveries, Bob Andrews personally chimes in: “Hey, Bob here, I’m still at the library. Research, you know. Deliveries can be left at the door. Thanks!”

Another version leans more into the typical detective theme of the stories: “Hey! This is The Three Investigators. We’re out on a case. We gladly accept new cases, and packages too. Just leave them here!”

How to Activate the Detectives

The Quick Replies feature has been available with Ring independently of the collaboration with “The Three Investigators.” Users can activate it in the Ring app and select one of the available messages. When the feature is activated, the corresponding Ring device plays the pre-selected message when someone rings. You can also set when the automatic response should start. The basic functionality of Quick Replies remains unchanged.

However, not every Ring doorbell supports the feature. According to the manufacturer, the first-generation Ring Video Doorbell is excluded from the replies.

“The Three Investigators” Stay Until the End of 2027

Those who want to try out the new announcements have plenty of time. However, the detectives won’t be at the door permanently. The “The Three Investigators” Quick Replies are available for free from October 1, 2026, to December 31, 2027.

The new doorbell responses are part of a larger collaboration around the three detectives. This includes, among other things, an online escape game.
