Apple transforms the App Store into a browser experience. The new web version of the popular marketplace revitalizes app searches and opens the offerings to all users for the first time—even without an Apple device. Clear structures, modern filters, and editorial recommendations aim to make browsing and discovering significantly more enjoyable.
Apple has fundamentally revamped its App Store and is now offering it as a full-fledged web version for the first time. At “apps.apple.com,” users now have access to a cross-platform browser interface that resembles the well-known App Store app. This allows interested parties to conveniently browse the app offerings without an Apple device—including applications for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and Vision Pro. With the new web design, Apple aims to significantly simplify operation and modernize the user experience.
Improved Overview and Search
The online version offers an improved search function, clearly structured categories, and the editorial section “Today,” where the company regularly publishes app recommendations. Additionally, product pages provide more detailed information, screenshots, and reviews.
The new web version is more closely aligned with the App Store app on devices. The previously simple pages have been replaced with a modern layout that is more clearly designed and offers more content. Users can specifically search for apps and receive structured results with better presentation and navigation options.
Another new feature is the ability to filter apps by device type. This allows users to specifically display and compare applications for iPhone, iPad, or Mac. When clicking “Download,” the App Store app opens on the respective device as usual to start the download. Direct installation via the browser is still not intended.
Central Platform for All Users
With the new web version, Apple creates a central access point for all users—regardless of whether they own an Apple device. App pages are easier to search, share, and link, significantly facilitating orientation and exchange about new applications.
The modernization of the App Store thus brings a noticeably improved user experience, more clarity, and easier access to the company’s entire app offerings.
