The Windows calculator has a helpful conversion function that allows a variety of units to be converted without internet access. TECHBOOK shows how it’s done.
You might already know the Windows calculator, but did you know that the tool can do much more than just simple calculations? Since the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, the calculator offers conversion functions for currencies, lengths, temperature, and more. TECHBOOK shows you how to access them:
Step-by-Step Guide
- Open the calculator app by typing Calculator in the search bar
- Click on the Options button in the top left corner
- Select Currency from the menu
- Change the currencies you want to convert by clicking the down arrow next to the currency name
An Excellent Alternative to Online Currency Converters
Unlike websites and most apps for currency conversion, the system-integrated calculator offers the advantage of not requiring an internet connection. An internet connection is needed for the calculator to determine the currency of the region you are in and to update to the current exchange rate. The current exchange rate is displayed in the lower left corner and can be updated by clicking Update Rates. Try out the numerous other conversion functions, such as for speed, area, time, etc., in addition to the currency converter.
The integrated Windows currency calculator is a practical feature that can also be used offline and supports a wide range of currencies. Especially when you’re in a dead zone or abroad without internet, such an offline tool can be particularly valuable for finding out the exchange rate of the local currency.
