Anker Power Banks Could Explode
In the U.S., according to Anker Innovations, over one million power banks sold between June 2016 and December 2022 are affected. The recall currently applies only to the U.S., but similar devices were available for purchase in Europe. Whether the recall will extend to other regions remains unclear.
Nineteen incidents have already been reported where the power bank caught fire or exploded, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Two people suffered minor burn injuries, and property damage exceeding $60,700 occurred in eleven cases.
