WhatsApp is expanding its event feature. Users will soon be able to send invitations to people without a WhatsApp account. Additionally, the messenger is introducing a central overview for planning. There, users can create events, design invitations, and manage RSVPs. The updates will be gradually available to all users in the coming weeks.
Invitations Work Without a WhatsApp Account
Meta has announced a major update for WhatsApp Events announced. Users can create an event and then share a link through which invited people can access the key details. A WhatsApp account or app installation is no longer required. Recipients can view the event details and RSVP via the link.
This allows invitations to be sent to people who do not use the messenger. WhatsApp is introducing the feature just in time for the upcoming season of holidays and personal gatherings.

Central Overview for Events
The new “Events Home” section consolidates event planning in one place. It can be found in the WhatsApp settings under the “Events” menu. There, WhatsApp displays a complete list of past and upcoming events, including self-created appointments and invitations from others.
In this section, users can create individual invitations and manage guest responses. Personal reminders and an option for a plus-one are also available.

WhatsApp Protects Personal Information
When sending invitations, WhatsApp considers the protection of personal data. Your phone number will not be visible to unknown guests. People without a WhatsApp account will only receive the exact address of an event after they have RSVP’d. Until then, these details remain hidden from them. According to WhatsApp, all personal messages and calls will remain end-to-end encrypted even after the update.
