Meta has announced a new AI-based writing assistant for WhatsApp called “Writing Help.” It provides suggestions in various styles at the push of a button.
Do you sometimes feel like you’re at a loss for words when typing messages? Meta aims to solve this problem: “Writing Help” is being introduced for WhatsApp as a new tool. It is designed to help users more easily achieve their desired expression.
From Formal to Humorous with WhatsApp’s “Writing Help”
WhatsApp’s “Writing Help” is based on artificial intelligence and suggests alternative text variants at the push of a button. Options include a serious, humorous, or encouraging style. Meta demonstrates how this can look in practice with an example.
From a straightforward “Please don’t leave dirty socks on the sofa,” the system generates playful alternatives like “Don’t turn the couch into a sock cemetery,” “Breaking news: Socks spotted–please remove!” or “Watch out, sock ninja: The laundry basket awaits!” The new option is accessible via a pencil icon while writing. With a tap, different suggestions appear, allowing users to choose.
When Will WhatsApp’s “Writing Help” Arrive in Germany?
To keep private content protected, WhatsApp relies on Meta Private Processing, according to the company. Both the original messages and the AI-generated variants are intended to be encrypted and not visible to Meta or WhatsApp.
Initially, the feature will be launched exclusively in English in the U.S. and some other unspecified countries. There are plans to expand to additional regions and language versions later. When the writing assistant will be available in German is currently unknown.
