WhatsApp is giving its desktop version a practical update: The messenger is introducing a new MediaHub on Mac and in the web version. This feature consolidates all recently shared photos, videos, and documents, making it significantly easier to find old files.
As reported by “WABetaInfo,” the update is primarily designed to eliminate the tedious scrolling through long chat histories. Previously, searching for a specific photo or PDF required painstakingly clicking through chats. The new MediaHub now offers a centralized overview of all media shared recently. With this, WhatsApp brings one of the most requested management features to the desktop.
Central Overview for All Files
The MediaHub appears in the sidebar of the web and Mac versions and opens a compact collection of all recently transferred files. Users can directly access photos, videos, and documents there without having to search through each chat individually. Additionally, there is an integrated search function that filters by senders or accompanying captions—ideal if the original chat has long been forgotten.

New Features for Better Organization
In addition to the overview, WhatsApp integrates practical tools for better management. The MediaHub allows multiple selections to delete or forward several files at once. Sorting options by date or file size helps quickly identify and clean up large or older media. The files are displayed in a clear grid view and can be opened in full size if needed.

Rollout Begins Gradually
The launch is taking place in several stages and is currently reaching initial users of the Mac and web versions. With the MediaHub, desktop usage becomes significantly clearer and better adapted to growing data volumes. When the feature will be available for Windows is still unknown. However, it is clear: WhatsApp is further developing its desktop version into a true everyday helper—and significantly simplifies file management.
