The update cycle for tech devices typically ends after a few years, and this also applies to popular wearables. Owners of a Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 or Galaxy Watch 4 Classic can now look forward to a major new update to One UI Watch 8. However, it will likely be the last one.
Users Report Update for Galaxy Watch 4
Users on the online platform Reddit and in the Samsung Community Forum are currently reporting that the new update has reached them. Accordingly, owners of the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic are receiving the update to One UI 8 Watch. South Korea was the first to receive it, but there are also reports that consumers in the U.S. and Canada have received the update as well.
More markets are expected to follow. In Europe, the rollout seems to be happening gradually. When the update will be rolled out here remains uncertain. The associated data package is quite large, with a screenshot on Reddit revealing a download of nearly 1.9 gigabytes.
Last Update with New Features
The fact that the Galaxy Watch 4 series, released in 2021, is still receiving an update to One UI 8 Watch is a clear indication that this is the final system update. Samsung promised four years of support at the time of the devices’ launch, and this has now been fulfilled. Subsequently, only security updates are expected, although there are no official statements on this yet.
