ING has updated its banking app. The new version not only includes bug fixes but also introduces two new features. TECHBOOK explains what’s new.
Regular updates are particularly important for security-related applications like banking apps. ING has updated its app, rolling out not just minor optimizations but also two completely new features for bank customers. These are designed to provide more clarity regarding earned interest and account transactions.
Update of the ING App Brings New Features
The new firmware is currently available for download for both iOS (version 6.43.10) and Android (version 6.43.5). Overall, the update for the ING app is straightforward. The bank lists three points in the changelog:
- Graphical representation of your account balance over the month
- Access to your interest details
- Bug fixes and minor improvements
The first two points are particularly interesting as they refer to two completely new features. The first–the display of interest credits–is available to customers with an Extra Account, which is ING’s own savings account. To view the earned interest, ING customers click on their Extra Account in the app and then on the round info icon, abbreviated as an “i,” at the top right. In the “Manage Account” section, they find the “Interest” tab, which leads to a link outside the app and opens the interest overview for the current and ongoing year.

The account analysis is also hidden behind the info icon but needs to be activated with a click. This feature offers a graphical representation of the account balance. Similar to the stock market, ING customers can see a graph that illustrates all money inflows and outflows over a specified period. The account balance development can be displayed over a month, three or six months, or even a year.
