In this series, TECHBOOK presents the best iPhone hacks and tricks–with video and detailed instructions.
The iPhone has undergone a long development history since its launch in 2007. Over the years, Apple has continually expanded the iOS operating system, often adding small and large, sometimes well-hidden features. In the “iPhone Hacks” series, TECHBOOK showcases the best and most practical of these features.
In Part 11, you’ll learn how to unlock the iPhone using voice commands.
How It Works
1. Open the iPhone Settings
2. Go to Accessibility and tap on Voice Control
3. Enable the Voice Control slider
4. Tap on Customize Commands and then on Create New Command
5. Choose Create New Command and enter a name for the command (a precise name is recommended, as it will also be the voice command itself)
6. Click on Action and then Run Custom Gesture
7. Tap in the blank field where the numbers of the passcode would be (it’s best to mark the spots beforehand with a piece of tape)
Note: Unlocking only works with a four-digit passcode, which is less secure than a six-digit code. You can change the passcode length in the settings under Passcode Options.
8. Confirm the passcode pattern with Save
9. Lock the iPhone and tap the screen to bring up the lock screen
10. Swipe up to open the passcode field
11. Say your voice command–the iPhone will now unlock itself
