In this series, TECHBOOK presents the best Android hacks and tricks–with video and detailed instructions.
The Android operating system developed by Google is the most widespread in the world. Seventy percent of all smartphones today run on Android. The OS has now reached its eleventh generation, and with each new generation, it has gained new features–some of which are quite well hidden. In the “Android Hacks” series, TECHBOOK showcases the best and most practical of these features.
In part 15, you’ll learn how to find Google Translate directly in your smartphone keyboard.
Note: This trick only works with Gboard, the keyboard set as the default on devices like Google Pixel and OnePlus smartphones. The app can be installed on any Android smartphone from the Play Store.
How It Works
1. Open a chat or Google search where you want to translate text.
2. Once Gboard appears, click on the three dots in the top bar of the keyboard.
3. A menu will open, from which you need to select the Translate option.
4. Confirm the use of Google Translate by clicking OK.
5. Select the language to be translated on the left and the target language on the right. Then enter the text. The keyboard will transfer the translated text in real-time into the respective text field–whether in a chat or Google search. To return to the normal keyboard, simply click the left arrow in the top keyboard bar.
