Apple has updated its list of older products—and officially retired two well-known models. Both the iPhone 11 Pro Max and the Apple Watch Series 3 are now on the so-called vintage list. This means they will receive only limited support.
iPhone 11 Pro Max Reaches Vintage Status
The iPhone 11 Pro Max, introduced in September 2019, was a milestone for Apple. It was the first iPhone with a triple-camera system and set new standards in video recording and night photography. Despite its age, the model recently received an update to iOS 26 but is now officially classified as vintage.
According to Apple, this step occurs about five years after sales stop. After that, hardware service is only available on a limited basis, such as when spare parts are still available. After seven years, devices are classified as obsolete and are no longer repaired.
The Apple Watch 3 Is Also Now Vintage
The Apple Watch Series 3 is also affected, which Apple offered as an affordable entry-level model until fall 2021. It was the first Apple Watch with an integrated cellular modem and eSIM, marking a new generation of smartwatches. However, software support ended in 2022.
By adding them to the vintage list, Apple marks the official end of two important product generations. Both models have significantly influenced the development of the iPhone and Apple Watch—and are now part of Apple’s history.
