Samsung has discontinued the budget Galaxy J series and released several new Galaxy A models, including the Galaxy A80 with a 180-degree camera.
As of yesterday, it’s official: The Galaxy J series will no longer see new models. Instead, it will be integrated into the A series, from which Samsung has already introduced a range of devices this year. Here you can see the announcement video from Samsung Malaysia, which also presents the new Galaxy A models.
No More J, More A Instead
Instead of new J models, Samsung has already introduced seven different Galaxy A smartphones: Galaxy A10, Galaxy A20, Galaxy A30, Galaxy A40, Galaxy A50, Galaxy A70, and today the Galaxy A80. We had the chance to take a closer look at the Galaxy A50 at the MWC in February and were pleasantly surprised. You can find out what we think of the device in our video:
All new A models have dual or triple cameras, except for the Galaxy A10, which comes with a single 13-megapixel camera. All but the A10 also feature screens with Samsung’s Super AMOLED technology.

New Galaxy A80 with 180-Degree Camera
The most unusual is the Galaxy A80, introduced just today, which features a massive 6.7-inch screen that covers the entire front of the smartphone. Samsung has devised an intriguing trick for the front camera. The triple camera on the back can be slid up and rotates 180 degrees to face forward. This innovative design is a new way to avoid the unpopular “notch,” but it remains to be seen how stable and durable the mechanism is.

The prices for the new budget-oriented Galaxy A models range from 120 euros for the Galaxy A10 to 350 euros for the Galaxy A50. The Galaxy A80 is a bit of an outlier, with Samsung asking for a full 680 euros, making it more of a premium device.
