The London-based smartphone manufacturer is known for its provocative marketing strategy. After Apple invited people to a “special experience” with presumably new products on March 4, Nothing CEO Carl Pei quickly announced his own event on March 5. The new Phone (4a) series will be unveiled at the event.
Presentation via Livestream
For the event announcement, Pei simply painted over the invitation Apple sent to media representatives and influencers in a post on X (formerly Twitter) with his own text. Above the Apple logo, “Nothing” is emblazoned, and the words “Apple Experience in London” and the date are covered with “5 March.” Only the invitation text “You’re invited” is clearly visible in between.
The invitation itself does not reveal what the event is about. However, Nothing simultaneously sent out a press release with the subject line “Nothing announces launch of the Phone (4a) series for March 5.” It also provides more details about the time and location of the event: Central Saint Martins in London, 11:30 a.m. Nothing will broadcast the presentation at the same time via livestream on its website nothing.tech.
What is Known About Phone (4a)
Recently, Nothing released a video on its YouTube channel where CEO Carl Pei spoke for the first time about the upcoming Phone (4a) series. He provided a preview of the planned development of the product line.
Pei stated: “We will focus on elevating the (a) series with the (4a) series to a new level. It is our best-selling product line, and we look forward to bringing the experience closer to a true flagship level in all areas–from materials and design to display and camera.”

While there are no technical details, we can expect a “bold new color experimentation [sic].” Traditionally, Nothing smartphones are only available in white/silver and black. It was only with the Phone (3a) that the company first offered a blue variant and later a limited community edition in turquoise with colorful accents. Nevertheless, the Phone (4a) is expected to retain the brand’s signature transparent back.
The price is also not yet known. However, Nothing was the first smartphone manufacturer to announce in January that upcoming devices would become more expensive due to the ongoing RAM crisis. Nothing intends to focus more on the user experience rather than just the spec sheet in the future.
