In 1999, Nokia launched the 8210. The phone quickly became a cult object–especially the blue model, which many people in this country likely owned. Now, the phone is back.
The Nokia 8210 4G follows in the footsteps of the 90s phone, featuring new wireless technology and a larger display. The manufacturer, HMD Global, has largely retained the design, yet the newcomer appears fresher and more modern.
Nokia 8210 4G–the classic is back
Originally, the Nokia 8210 had a monochrome display with a resolution of 96 x 64 pixels. Today, that’s no longer sufficient, so Nokia has enlarged the display to 2.8 inches and added color. It also supports 4G and comes with several extras, including an integrated MP3 player, a wireless and wired FM radio, and a 0.3-megapixel camera on the back. Another highlight is the replaceable 1450 mAh battery. While this may seem like a low capacity, considering the Nokia 8210 4G is a phone and not a smartphone, the device manages well with this charge. HMD Global states the standby time is several weeks.
Making calls and sending SMS messages are the main focuses of the Nokia phone. Thanks to the mentioned 4G support, the former even works via VoLTE (Voice over LTE). Overall, the Nokia 8210 4G has a very retro feel–including the familiar number pad below the display. The storage is also limited to 128 MB, which is enough for the phonebook and smaller images.

Flip phone experiences rebirth
In addition to the Nokia 8210 4G, HMD Global has another new phone in its lineup. While it doesn’t follow a specific predecessor, it revives the popular flip phone form. The new model, called Nokia 2660 Flip, offers a similar setup to the Nokia 8210 4G. The 2660 Flip also features a 2.8-inch color display and a 1450 mAh battery. The storage is 128 MB, and it can accommodate two SIM cards (Dual-SIM).
However, the flip mechanism results in a much larger keyboard. An emergency button also allows for quick contact in case of an emergency. Additionally, the Nokia 2660 Flip offers several features specifically aimed at older users. Besides the aforementioned large keys and emergency button, it is compatible with hearing aids (HAC) and has an optional charging stand.
