The Samsung Galaxy Z Trifold is considered one of the most spectacular smartphone experiments of recent years. With its triple-folding display, Samsung aims to establish a new class of devices. However, the model is not available in Germany, which might be an advantage for interested buyers.
In the U.S., where the smartphone has been sold since January 30, 2026, early users report problems with this core feature. According to the website “Gizmochina,” reports of failures of the approximately 10-inch inner display are increasing on the Reddit forum. Several buyers describe serious defects after just a few days of use.
Total Failures After a Short Time
A user reports a sudden green flash on the display, followed by a completely black screen. Only a restart made the device functional again—but only temporarily. The next day, the error occurred again. According to the user, the smartphone was neither dropped nor mishandled.
Another report describes a similar issue. Here, the display initially registered inputs on its own before it completely failed the next day, showing only a white surface. In this case, too, the device was reportedly used normally.
Cracking When Folding
Another concerning detail from user reports is the occurrence of quiet cracking noises when folding the device. Additionally, a small bubble formed under the glass surface. For a smartphone priced at around 2,500 euros, this is far from reassuring.

Currently, these appear to be isolated reports. Whether a systematic problem exists cannot be determined based on the current reports. Nevertheless, the incidents could unsettle potential buyers.
For German consumers, the issue remains theoretical for now. Samsung has not yet officially released the Galaxy Z Trifold in Germany.
