In this series, TECHBOOK presents the best Android hacks and tricks–with video and detailed instructions.

The Android operating system, developed by Google, is the most widely used in the world. Seventy percent of all smartphones today run on Android. The OS is now in its eleventh generation, and with each new generation, it has gained new features–some of which are quite well hidden. In the “Android Hacks” series, TECHBOOK showcases the best and most practical of these features.

In Part 9, we show you how to connect a USB stick to your Android smartphone.

Here’s how it works

1. Connect a USB-C stick or a USB-A stick via an adapter to the smartphone.

2. Open the Android Settings.

3. Select the Storage option from the menu.

4. If the USB stick is recognized correctly, a new device should appear under the Portable Storage category. Click on the device (usually labeled as USB storage device).

5. You can now access the external storage and even copy and move files between internal and external storage.
