In this series, TECHBOOK presents the best Android hacks and tricks—with video and detailed instructions.
The Android operating system, developed by Google, is the most widely used in the world. Seventy percent of all smartphones today run on Android. The OS is now in its eleventh generation, and with each new generation, it has gained new features—some of which are quite well hidden. In the “Android Hacks” series, TECHBOOK showcases the best and most practical of these features.
In Part 1, you’ll learn how to bypass the screen lock under certain conditions. This is useful if you carry your smartphone with you and don’t want to unlock it constantly.
How It Works
1. Open the Android settings.
2. Select Security from the menu.
3. Click on the Smart Lock option.
4. Now enter your PIN or password, which also serves as the screen lock.
5. You have several options to choose from:
On-body detection: Uses sensors in the smartphone to determine if you are moving. As long as you carry the smartphone with you, it can remain unlocked.
Trusted places: Here, you can set locations where the smartphone remains unlocked. This requires the use of location services via GPS, cellular, and Wi-Fi.
Trusted devices: As long as the smartphone is connected to a Bluetooth device, it won’t lock automatically. You can set your headphones or smartwatch as a trusted device.
