Movie night in the bedroom works even without expensive equipment. With a cardboard box and a magnifying glass, you can easily turn your smartphone into a projector.
Why spend a lot of money on a projector when you can make one yourself? In this tech hack, we explain how it’s done. The homemade projector works like conventional projectors. The smartphone display is enlarged and projected onto the wall through the magnifying glass. To prevent the brightness from scattering in all directions, place the smartphone in a sealable cardboard box.
Cut a hole the size of the magnifying glass on one side and attach it there. Now you just need to position the smartphone inside so that the projection on the wall is sharp. Then: Close the box and start the movie!
For the projection to be clearly visible on the wall, the room should be as dark as possible. After all, a smartphone display naturally has much less brightness compared to a standard projector.
Admittedly, the homemade setup may not replace a full-fledged projector, but it certainly saves a lot of money–and it’s fun to build!
