What You Need to Do Now
Microsoft now reports the issue as resolved. However, the announcement from the U.S. company alone doesn’t ensure the app will immediately work again on the iPhone. You need to re-confirm the affected account on the device.
To do this, open the iPhone settings. Then go to “Mail” and select your Outlook account. Enter the password again and save the change. Afterward, email retrieval should work again.

Microsoft does not specify an exact cause in its status update. However, CNET reports that the company supposedly found the trigger through internal logs. The error was traced back to a recent change in the cloud configuration. According to the report, this adjustment was reversed, which is said to have resolved the disruption.

The outage was noticeable worldwide. Users on X described that Outlook repeatedly asked for login credentials. According to “CNET,” outage monitors recorded up to 1,500 complaints per minute at times. For people who organize their professional communication through Outlook, this was particularly frustrating. The app also manages appointments, which made the outage even more impactful.
