A brief distraction is enough, and a fully typed message remains unnoticed. A new notification is set to remind users of such WhatsApp drafts more quickly in the future.
WhatsApp is testing a new feature that reminds users of unsent messages. If a chat is left while typing and another app is opened, a push notification is supposed to appear after one minute. It will essentially say, “Your draft.” Additionally, WhatsApp will indicate which contact the message is still waiting to be sent to.

This is how the messenger responds to a typical everyday situation. A message is already composed but is not sent due to a call, a notification, or another interruption. Without another look at WhatsApp, the draft can remain unnoticed for a long time. The planned reminder draws attention to the open message outside the app.

Through the notification, users can go directly to the relevant conversation. The previously entered text remains saved as a draft and does not need to be rewritten. The message can then be sent immediately or edited again.

So far, WhatsApp only marks started messages in the chat overview. There, alongside the draft notice, a snippet of the already entered text also appears. However, this information only becomes visible when the app is reopened. The new push notification acts earlier and reminds users of the draft even when WhatsApp is not actively being used.
Feature Initially Launches in Android Beta
As reported by the portal WABetaInfo, which specializes in WhatsApp updates, the feature is currently being tested in the WhatsApp beta for Android. It is part of version 2.26.35.2. However, the reminder is not yet available to all participants in the beta program.
WhatsApp is rolling out the update gradually. Therefore, the feature may still be missing even after installing the mentioned beta version. The messenger has not yet provided a specific date for a regular release. It remains unclear when all users will receive reminders for forgotten message drafts.
