Lidl always has the Monsieur Cuisine smart on offer under its own Silvercrest brand. How good is the food processor from the discounter?
The Monsieur Cuisine smart has also been available in Germany since August 2022. The food processor is currently available from discount supermarket Lidl for 449 euros. But what can the machine actually do, and is it worth it? TECHBOOK checks out the offer.
Overview
The Monsieur Cuisine smart at Lidl
The Silvercrest Monsieur Cuisine smart SKMS 1200 A1 is the successor to the extremely popular Connect model. Some functions have been carried over, but others are new. After all, the Connect version was launched in 2018 and is now four years old.
The Monsieur Cuisine smart is regularly priced at 499 euros at Lidl, 100 euros more than its predecessor. However, the food processor has repeatedly sold out and has been listed for significantly higher prices on eBay and similar platforms. But what capabilities does the new version offer, and does it serve as a genuine alternative to the high-quality, yet significantly pricier Thermomix from Vorwerk?

Who Benefits from the Thermomix?
Who Really Stands Behind Lidl’s Silvercrest Brand?
An Upgrade Compared to the Monsieur Cuisine connect
The predecessor model enjoyed considerable popularity. In comparison, the smart version now offers some new features, such as control via voice command. The video guide on the comparatively larger display (7 inch vs. 8 inch) is also new. There are also new automatic programs that can be used to cook eggs with pinpoint accuracy, for example. Sous vide preparation is now also possible.
Particularly practical: an additional handle on the blender jug. By adding an extra-large handle, the manufacturer has responded to customer feedback, enabling one-handed operation. The motor power is also comparatively stronger, allowing the machine to knead larger quantities of dough in one go.
The Monsieur Cuisine smart is therefore definitely an upgrade compared to the previous version. The new features justify the 50 euros higher price tag. However, if you already own the Connect model, upgrading to the Smart isn’t a necessity.
Conclusion: Is the Lidl Offer Worth It?
At 449 euros, Lidl’s Monsieur Cuisine smart is a versatile food processor packed with practical features. The Connect model has often been touted as an affordable Thermomix alternative, and the Smart version offers even more. Comparing the prices, the Monsieur Cuisine smart is significantly less expensive than the Thermomix TM6, which costs 1399 euros.
In terms of design, handling, and the number of recipes, the Thermomix remains unchallenged. However, for those seeking a substantially more affordable option, the new Monsieur Cuisine smart at Lidl is an excellent choice.
