For some time now, users have been able to manage apps on devices via the Play Store without having to hold them in their hands. Now, Google is expanding remote app management with a handy update. This allows users to uninstall apps from other devices more quickly–without needing access to them.
Delete Apps Directly in the Play Store
Currently, Google is rolling out version 48.8 of the Play Store app to compatible Android devices. The update offers several new app management options. A new “Available for other devices” overview appears on the respective app pages in the Play Store, showing which logged-in devices the app is compatible with. From this overview, apps can now not only be installed on other devices but also uninstalled.
Previously, Android users had to go to the Play Store settings under “Manage apps and devices” and “Manage,” select the respective device, mark individual apps, and then delete them using the trash can icon. While this method is still useful for getting an overview of all apps installed on a particular smartphone or tablet, the process is somewhat more complicated.
Better App Management for Power Users and Parents
By combining both methods, the Play Store now offers significantly more comprehensive control over app management in a Google account. The update is currently being rolled out gradually and should be available to all users soon.

The additional uninstallation method is not only practical for managing multiple Android devices. It gives parents and other guardians insight into which apps children install on their smartphones or tablets. If they discover something that doesn’t belong there, they can quickly and easily delete the content remotely–without having to physically handle the device.
