Google Photos, starting with version 7.30, offers a new feature for sharing images via QR code, seamlessly integrating into the Material 3 design of Android 16. This option allows for easy sharing.
Google is introducing a new feature in its Photos app that makes sharing images easier. With the introduction of QR codes in Google Photos, sharing photos and albums becomes not only simpler but also more accessible, as the exchange of digital contact information becomes unnecessary.
QR Code in Google Photos with the New Android Look
This will be the case starting with version 7.30. This new feature integrates seamlessly into the new design that Google will introduce with Android 16. The QR code only contains the URL of the image or album, so they must be available online. Therefore, a prior upload to the cloud may be necessary. A unique aspect is that the QR codes are designed to include the colorful Google Photos logo and the new Material 3 Expressive Design.
As the online magazine “9to5Google” reports, the QR code in Google Photos appears next to the existing “Create Link” option. The code can be scanned using the camera of another smartphone or tablet. This innovation allows users to share their photos directly without relying on external communication channels like email or messenger.

Casual Sharing of Photos and Albums
The entire process is similar to the previous sharing via link but offers the advantage of making sharing in conversation easier. It is also intended to feel more personal, as there is no need to wait for an email or the creation of a QuickShare connection. The new QR code in Google Photos is now available for download in the Play Store.
