Decathlon has initiated a recall for B’TWIN brand e-scooters. A safety-related defect may occur in some vehicles, which could potentially lead to a fall. Affected models should not be used until they are repaired.
Recall Due to Possible Breakage Risk
Only the B’TWIN models SD500E and MD500E, purchased between September 1, 2024, and June 15, 2026, are affected. For the MD500E, the reference numbers 8884183 and 8873735 and the article numbers 5234673 and 5263834 are affected. For the SD500E, the reference numbers 8891701 and 8885601 and the article numbers 5177606 and 5244742 are involved.
During quality controls, Decathlon discovered that under intensive use, a crack can develop at the connection point between the frame and the stem in some e-scooters.
If this connection point breaks due to such a crack, there is a risk of a fall and thus an increased risk of injury for the rider. Decathlon therefore urges affected customers not to use the e-scooters until they are repaired.
Free Repair Solution Available
The company offers affected owners a repair solution. It involves reinforcing the connection point so that the e-scooters can be used safely again. Customers receive the repair kit with instructions free of charge. According to the company, the installation is simple and quick and can be carried out by the customer themselves.

For the recall, Decathlon has set up a website. There, affected individuals can request the repair kit by providing their email address and country. The company apologizes for the inconvenience caused and thanks customers for their trust.
