In this series, TECHBOOK presents the best iPhone hacks and tricks–complete with video and detailed instructions.

The iPhone has undergone a long evolution since its launch in 2007. Over the years, Apple has continually expanded the iOS operating system, often adding small and large, sometimes well-hidden features. In the “iPhone Hacks” series, TECHBOOK showcases the best and most practical of these features.

In Part 12, you’ll learn how to assign a custom vibration pattern, recorded by you, to calls and notifications.

How It Works

1. Open Settings

2. Open Sounds & Haptics

3. Choose one of the options under the Sounds and Vibration Patterns menu, such as Ringtone

4. Tap on Vibration

5. Under Custom, open Create New Vibration

6. Now, tap out a pattern with your finger and press Stop

7. Confirm the pattern by tapping Save and give it a name
