Apple surprises with new updates for older iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple Watches, enhancing stability and security.
Apple surprises with a new round of updates for older devices. This includes not only iPhones and iPads but also Macs and Apple Watches. Instead of new features, the focus is primarily on the long-term usability of the devices. It ensures that they continue to function reliably, even though they are no longer part of the current product generation.
Updates for iPhone, iPad, and More
For iPhones running iOS 16, version iOS 16.7.14 is now available for iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X, as reported by “Teltarif.” This replaces the previously withdrawn version iOS 16.7.13, which caused installation issues. iPadOS 16.7.14 has also been released, intended for older iPad models. Both updates add 21 new emojis to the devices, which were previously reserved for newer versions.
Additionally, Apple has provided updates for macOS 11.7.11 and watchOS versions 10.6.2 and 9.6.4. These are aimed at older Macs and Apple Watches that can no longer support newer operating systems. For the Watches, this concerns models from Series 1 to Series 5, which should remain compatible with current iPhone versions.
Focus on Stability
The new versions of iOS and iPadOS primarily include stability improvements and security-related adjustments. These are intended to ensure the functionality and reliability of the devices. A background certificate plays a central role here, ensuring that features like iMessage and FaceTime remain usable in the long term.
